I’m looking for suggestions that do not include cruises or primarily beach locations. We are from New Jersey and would like to go somewhere in Europe, but other suggestions are welcomed.

go to the bookstore & read lonley planet travel guides
There are so so many romantic place to go the list go on for ever. Unfortunately, the weakness in the dollar make travel to europe a bit pricey at this time. Not to mention the cost of gasoline in some of the countrys. My suggestion for reasonable, and not touristy would be to pick up a copy of Rick Steves “Back Door Europe” It tells you numerous places that the general public does not go to, yet is quite beautiful. Most popular places are expensive (tourists) I have heard that some of the eastern european countrys are reasonable, tourist friendly, and are interesting places to go. I have never travelled to those countrys, but among my favorites is italy. Good luck, keep an open mind, and study the contrys language to experience some added fun and excitement. Most large citys speak english, but to try and speak there tongue, is an added and welcomed bonus, even if it is very very limited. Bon voyage.
Go to Click on book travel then click on honeymoons and go from there. Good luck
Eastern Europe is generally cheaper than the rest of Europe. Prague,
former Russian republics, Slovenia (kind of central actually but still great in terms of price), and Bulgaria are all great ideas.
If you go to Slovenia…my personal favorite… you can take an overnight trip to Italy. It’s a short ride to Venice or short ferry ride to the east coast of Italy.
Buses are cheaper than the train in Europe…keep that in mind!
