We are having a huge wedding. The cost will pretty much leave us nothing for a honeymoon. I think that it is still important that we get away after the wedding. I would really like some fun and inexpensive ideas. We live in Michigan.

What is the name of that island in Michigan that has no motor cars and mostly horse drawn buggy and all that? I live in NJ so I cannot remember but it sounds like an interesting place to go find a nice bed and breakfast and spend a weekend. CONGRATULATIONS!
Sounds corny, but cruises are awesome. The best reason is because the entire time you are traveling, you can be doing whatever you want, and during a honeymoon that means being together. You can find good deals on them, even during the summer time. Just get some people to keep their eyes out. We got on for 300 bucks a piece. It was 5 days 4 nights, and we had a ball.
Hope this helps.
A cruise is fun and inexpensive, plus your room and meals are included. Check out the specials at
las vegas-or a cruise.
Congrats on the wedding!
From Michigan there are quite a few places you can go. Not sure what time of year you are getting married, so that may change things a bit…
Some ideas:
1. Chicago – take the train and stay downtown. There are some hotels there that are quite reasonable. Lots of fun stuff to do that doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg. Plenty of bars/nightlife and museums.
2. Niagara Falls. Sounds cheesy and old fashioned – but it’s not! there’s quite a bit to do there and hotels are pretty inexpensive. The falls are beatiful to see.
3. Go to the UP and do the U.P. tour – see sault ste. marie, the taquamenan falls (sp?) lots of hiking, canoeing. the UP is great and you can spend some wonderful quality time together. If you go to Mackinac Island – don’t stay there – way too expensive for what you get. The ferry can be expensive, too. But if it’s in your budget, go for it.
4. Stay out of Ohio!!!
ask around…my mom is planning her wedding right now and a friend of a friend owns land somewhere out of state with a beautiful lake house. It wont cost them anything to use it..see if you know anyone that knows anyone..haha..
