It depends on where you live. If you live by water – like in Florida, NY, CA, etc – you might check into cruises. Cruises are great because you get entertainment, food, and sightseeing all for a pretty good price. I live in So. California and I know they have cruises to Mexico for around 4-500 @ person.
A local bed & breakfast can be a very romantic get away and around the cost of a nice motel. Become a tourist in your own region. Explore your own backyard as if you had never been there before. If you really need to do it on the cheap, a camping trip could be a real adventure.
Where do you live? What’s inexpensive to you? Where do you want to go – Beach, Snow, North, South, Continental, International? When are you getting married? What other boundaries or conflicts do you have?
The honest answer will be that whatever is closest to you will be the cheapest to get to. From there, stay in an inexpensive but safe hotel. Bring a few bottles of champagne and make your own fun.
Mackinac island. I always thought it would be great in the spring time.
Or you could got to Disneyworld if your that kind of couple.
Get a package deal at one of the hotels.
How about a bed & breakfast up in New England? Somewhere in Maine or Mass, so you’re near the water.
Try going to an traveling agent.Maybe Acapulco,or the Bahamas.
Cruises can be good for inexpensive honeymoons if you find a good deal and remember not to spend too much on drinks – cruises are great because they include your lodging, food, and some entertainment at one price, but it can cost a lot of extra money if you drink a lot and/or go on a lot of ship-booked “excursions.” For my honeymoon, we went into a small city near San Francisco (about an hour and a half away from where we got married) – it was great because there was no airfare and big cities have lots of things to do that aren’t too expensive, but also things that you can splurge on. We also spent part of the time in a relative’s vacation home at the beach – I don’t know if this is possible for you, but it was a big money saver (it was free! and we saved on not eating out for every meal). On the East Coast, there are all sorts of big cities you can stay in or near, like New York, Boston, DC, Philly, Miami, etc. Norfolk, in Virginia, actually has quite a bit of stuff to do, and some places to stay at that aren’t too expensive, plus it’s right by Virginia Beach. Good luck, and congratulations!
