How about an all inclusive resort? Or go to Vegas, it really is inexpensive because they offer daily free shows, lots of sights, great food, and great nightlife. It really doesn’t have to be about the gambling at all. That’s where my husband and I went on our honeymoon. We told everyone there we were on our honeymoon and we got a lot of free things too!
I love Riviera Maya in Mexico. It’s amazingly cheap and all inclusive…drinks, food, activities, airfare and hotel. My favorite place is the Occidental Grand Flamenco Xcaret complex. September is an inexpensive time to go and this is a fantastic place for a honeymoon.
There are plenty of places to explore in this resort area south of Cancun.
I don’t know what your budget is for your honeymoon, but my husband and I went on an AMAZING honeymoon at the Sandles Resort down in Montego Bay, Jamaica……..you pay for everything up front (ours was anout 3000) but that includes your roundtrip airfair, 5 star type food (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks…..) all your drinks (even alcoholic ones) and your stay. Plus they bus you around to all the other Sandles resorts and you can eat at their different restaurnts (each one has about 5 different restaurunts)…plus every day has a theme and they have entertainment every night….it’s really an amazing experience!
Gatlinburg Tn or Pigeon Forge Tn. They have all kinds of stuff to do. Plus I your wedding is after Sep 8th it is off season so you can get better rates.
all inclusive – Dominican Republic – you can get nice deals in September to anywhere in the carribean really – San Cabos Lucas in Mexico, Puerto Rico…etc
It’s the Shoulder Season! Lots of nice places are relatively inexpensive…Florida – St. Petersburg, free of college students; Monterey/Carmel, California – GORGEOUS!; San Francisco, CA – way warmer than in “summer.” Vermont/New Hampshire/Maine – simply lovely! San Antonio, Texas; or go to New Orleans for the big party at the Big Easy! Autumn in New York is nice; and for free museums and parks, nothing beats Washington, DC. Savannah, Georgia is romantic as heck, too. If you like Virginia, Charlottesville is nice and home to Thomas Jefferson’s home, Monticello. There are also a lot of really nice spots in Philadelphia, PA.
From the suggestions above – I only recommend Atlantic City if you want to go to the beach, hang out on the Boardwalk and/or stay in the casinos. Not much else off the Boardwalk, there. Cape May is beautiful, though — and within easy driving distance of A/C.
You can get excellent prices on condos in Destin, FL or Panama City Beach, FL for September. My husband and I are waiting to go on vacation until September because we get an entire week for $600 as opposed to $1600 during peak summer. Congratulations on the wedding!
I **** cruises too! My husband and I went to the Smoky Mountains. We stayed in a beautiful cabin outside of Pigeon Forge, TN. It was so much fun and so cheap. You wouldn’t believe how much FREE stuff there is to do. If you are interested, go online to the Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg websites and request the free travel guides. They have all kinds of information in them as well as discount coupons. Good luck and best wishes.

Camping in Canada. Awesome country, loads to see, the culture is a bit more down to earth.
How about Savannah? Great beaches, low crowds.
Or maybe New Orleans…you can get great rates there in the early fall, plenty to see and do!

go to – they have really good deals if you’re willing to book within a few weeks of travel. Riu and Iberostar resorts are awesome btw.
Or, if you want it really cheap, go camping.
