I know people can stay at the places like doubletree and marriott for dirt cheap. I would first try a high star for around $50.00. Then I would bid a little higher. Sometimes it is hard to find a good budget during a main vacation month. Still I paid half price for a hotel. My brother has stayed in gorgeous hotels for 50-60 dollars. You only get two tries within a 24 hour period at priceline. It's worth it. Also, if you order the Entertainment book you will save lots of money. I love this book. Most places are out, so order it online. If you use the book you can save I think 30 percent on select holiday inns. So an eighty dollar hotel will cost fifty six dollars. There is so much to do. Go to Galveston, moody gardens and the beach. Oh some large gas stations with restaurants and truck stops carry coupon books. I have found a 100 dollar hotel for sixty excluding holidays. It was in Kemah which is another place you could go. I highly recommend a restaurant (MOON WATER GRILL) located in Kemah which in the past was in the entertainment book for buy one get one free. You walk into a large beautiful home with wooden floors and beautiful staircase. There are windows everywhere which overlook the water. Weekends there is live classical types of music sung. Walk ouside and watch all the boats on the water. Bring your swimsuit. You can swim and there is even tennis courts. I would eat breakfast at the hotel adn head to the restaurant and play some tennis. Then I would swim and later order lunch. I would sip margs by the pool, and then head back to the hotel to get dressed for the Kemah boardwalk. There are restaurants, activities and shops there. Or even drive at to Galveston later that night. It's probably about an hour or 45 minutes if you leave at a good time. One more thing, you should be able to find cheaper rates for hotels on their website. Don't call them, they give you the highest rates. It is a small beach community. You can get a nice beach front hotel or a quaint bed and breakfast and have a nice, peaceful time.
